MAA 2023 Virtual Meeting Registration Now Open!

May 9, 2023

Registration is now open for our 2023 Annual Meeting! This year our meeting will be held virtually and we hope you are able to join us!

We have a great lineup of informational and educational sessions including topics such as: primary sources, crowdsourcing, digital initiatives at the Ilitch Holdings, Inc. Archives, using Story Maps for outreach, and lessons from the first year of the UPLINK (Upper Peninsula Digital Network) project.

Our Keynote speaker this year is Sheila L. Chingwa, Archivist of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians.  She will introduce us to the life of a Tribal Archivist and share the story of Julius and Judith Keywaygoshkum and the intriguing rescue mission to save their records.

Also included with registration is a Digital Preservation Policy Workshop taught by Michigan Digital Preservation Network’s Coordinator Chelsea Denault, Ph.D.  Attendees will emerge from the workshop with a draft policy and helpful roadmap for continuing development, including building a digital preservation team in their organization.

The MAA business meeting is free to MAA members and access to the recorded sessions will be provided once the conference has concluded.

MAA Auction on Beaver Island — June 2011

January 7, 2011

It’s not too soon to begin thinking about the annual meeting on Beaver Island. Consider this the first shout-out for donations to the silent auction to benefit History Day and the MAA Scholarship fund.

Several members have already pledged an item or two for the auction, the Amway Grand is donating a night’s stay at the hotel in Grand Rapids again this year, and the Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce has promised to solicit prizes from member businesses. Contact Nancy Richard richanar@gvsu.edu or call 616-331-8726 for more information or to make a donation.
