Michigan Museums Association is spearheading an effort, on behalf of IMLS (Institute for Museum & Library Service) to ask all libraries, museums, and archives in Michigan about the state of collections management at their institutions. So far, we’ve sent out over 1600 surveys to museums and libraries in the state.
If we have missed your library, our apologies. We’d appreciate it if you would fill out this online survey about your local history collections. Ultimately, we will use this information, and the information from the other surveys sent in, to ask IMLS for funding to help us care for the state’s collections (boxes, paper, other equipment—perhaps even contract expertise). This is part of IMLS’ Connecting to Collections initiative—they want to help the smaller organizations with collections issues. Michigan Museums Association is happy to assist.

Please note that we are only concerned about your non-circulating, historical collections.
Please contact Nancy Bryk, President, Michigan Museums Association, 734-417-4024 if you have any questions or concerns about this survey. We hope you’ll fill it out!
