Meet the Candidates! MAA Board and Officer Election 2015

The positions being voted on in this year’s election are as follows: Conference Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Members-at-Large (#5 and #6, each three-year terms). To nominate additional candidates, a petition signed by at least 10 MAA members must be presented to the Secretary, Stefanie Caloia, no later than 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015.

Conference Coordinator (2015-2017)
Linda Skolarus
Linda Skolarus is a Reference Archivist/Librarian at the Benson Ford Research Center of The Henry Ford. Linda has worked at The Henry Ford since 1990 in several capacities and has managed the public reading room since 1994. She earned her master’s degree in Information and Library Science from the University of Michigan in 1990. She has served as President and also as Hospitality Chair for the Southeast Michigan Chapter of the Special Libraries Association at different times between 2002 and 2005.

Secretary (2015-2017)
Stefanie Caloia
Stefanie is the AFT Project Archivist at the Walter P. Reuther Library of Labor and Urban Affairs at Wayne State University. She has an MLIS and a graduate certificate in Archival Administration from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in photography from Grand Valley State University. Stefanie previously worked for a private archives and for History Associates, Inc., on their National Park archives project. She is a certified archivist with the ACA, a member of the Redford Township Historical Commission, and administrator of the Facebook page for the Visual Materials Section of SAA. Stefanie currently serves as Secretary of MAA.

Treasurer (2015-2017)
Susan Panak
Susan Panak has a BA in Organizational Management from Spring Arbor. Since 2001 she has been the Archivist and Acquisitions Manager for Spring Arbor University, located in Spring Arbor, Michigan, and Archivist for the Southern Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church of N.A. since 2005. Susan’s other professional activities include being both a MAC and MAA member since 2001. Additionally, she has been active on the MAA Board since 2007, serving as Treasurer from 2011 to 2013, Secretary from 2008-2010, Local Arrangements Chair in 2009, member of the 2008 Program Committee, Fundraising Chair in 2008, and Member-at-Large in 2007.

Members-at-Large (two positions, 2015-2018)
Lauren Arnsman
Lauren Arnsman has a BA in English and German from Western Michigan University and graduated in 2010 with her MLIS and Archival Administration certificate from Wayne State
University. She completed her practicum at the Burton Historical Society in the Detroit
Public Library. Since 2010, she has worked as the archivist at Kellogg Community College and worked as a librarian with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Lauren also volunteered at the Traverse Area District Library in their local history section. In her spare time, Lauren likes to read and watch movies.

Christiane Evaskis-Garrett
Christiane Evaskis-Garrett considers herself an archival nomad; over the past five years, she’s worked as a project archivist for the State of Michigan, an archival consultant for the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Tennessee, and is currently a Content Analyst at ProQuest, where one of her passions is trying to convince her boss of the need for a zombie apocalypse plan. She also volunteers on a monthly basis at the Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, Michigan, as a cataloger. Christiane has served on the MAA Board since 2014 and also serves as Assistant Editor for Open Entry. She received her Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Sociology in 2008 from the University of Tennessee–Martin and graduated in 2010 from the University of Michigan with a Master of Science in Information, where she specialized in Archives and Records Management and Preservation of Information.

Carol Vandenberg
Carol Vandenberg is a reference librarian and the archivist for Madonna University. Previously she was a data manager with the Department of Biostatistics and Research Epidemiology at the Henry Ford Health System. She earned an MLIS in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV and Film. In her position with Madonna University, she also serves as the co-chair of the Institutional Review Board. May–July 2006, Carol was an exchange librarian and archivist with the Notre Dame University–Louaize in Lebanon. She is also a board member with the Canton Historical Society. Carol currently serves as an MAA Board Member-at-Large, where as coordinator of the Ad Hoc Survey Committee one of her projects has been the establishment of an electronic version of MAA’s annual meeting survey.

Brian Wilson
Brian Wilson is the Digital Access and Preservation Archivist at The Henry Ford’s Benson Ford Research Center and has been with The Henry Ford since September 2010. He is responsible for processing and preservation of born-digital and hybrid collections, digitization of material from the Research Center’s holdings, and facilitating electronic access to archival materials and description. Brian received his Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan School of Information in May 2010, where he specialized in Archives and Records Management. Brian has been a member of MAA since 2010, having most recently presented during the 2014 Annual Meeting. He is also active in a number of other archives and museum-related groups and societies including SAA and the Mid-Michigan Digital Practitioners.
