2017 Annual Meeting

Welcome!
The 2017 Michigan Archival Association Annual Meeting will be held June 14-16, 2017, at the Park Place Hotel in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan!

Call for Poster Proposals
The call is out for poster proposals for the 2017 MAA Annual Meeting! Proposal submissions will be accepted through Friday, April 14, 2017. For more details and to submit a proposal view the Call for Posters.

Keynote Speaker
Joining us this year as our keynote speaker will be Stef Staley, the Executive Director of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum, who will speak on the secret aircraft carriers that were stationed on Lake Michigan during World War II.

Pre-Conference Workshop
Stacy Nowicki, Library Director at the Kalamazoo College Library, will lead our pre-conference workshop on Effective Grant Writing, Wednesday, June 14, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Tours
Tours on Thursday, June 15, include the Music House Museum and a guided walking tour of downtown Traverse City. And join us Friday evening, June 16, following the conference for a bus tour of wineries on Old Mission Peninsula.

Reception
The conference reception will be held Wednesday, June 14, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Top of the Park ballroom, with its breathtaking views of downtown Traverse City and Grand Traverse Bay.

Registration
Registration rates include all sessions, lunch & refreshments on Thursday and Friday, and the Wednesday reception. Costs for the pre-conference workshop and tours are not included; please see the Conference Program for more detail.

Early Bird, MAA Members, postmarked by April 19, 2017:   $75.00
MAA Members, postmarked by May 10, 2017:   $85.00
Non-members, postmarked by May 10, 2017:   $95.00
Students, postmarked by May 10, 2017:   $50.00
One-day registration, postmarked by May 10, 2017:   $50.00

After May 10, you must register on-site. The on-site rate is $105 for two days, and $60 for one day.

To register, fill out and mail the Registration Form included in the Conference Program.

Hotel Information
All of the conference activities (except tours) will be held in the Park Place Hotel, located at 300 E. State Street in Traverse City. Site on Google Maps

There is free Wi-Fi and self-parking. Amenities include a health club and a restaurant/bar lounge. Dogs are allowed. (Please let the attendant know you are bringing a dog when you call to make your reservation).

A block of overnight rooms has been reserved for Wednesday and Thursday, June 14 and 15. Standard “run of the house” room rate is $159.95 per night, not including taxes. The reservation deadline for a guaranteed room and reduced rate is May 15, 2017. Please call 231-946-5000 and ask for the Michigan Archival Association room rate.

Luncheon Menus
Thursday, June 15
Grilled Chicken with mushroom provencal sauce, broccoli and potatoes, dessert buffet.
Vegetarian option: Garlic Herb Pappardelle, broccoli and potatoes, dessert buffet.

Friday, June 16
“Pizza Parlor” with assorted vegetarian and meat toppings, Caesar salad, pasta salad, garlic toast, penne marinara, dessert buffet.
