The Michigan Archival Association is very pleased to announce our program for MAA’s 2017 Annual Meeting!

We invite all Michigan archivists and those working with, studying, or interested in archives to attend our 2017 Annual Meeting in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan, taking place June 14-16. This year’s meeting site is the Park Place Hotel in downtown Traverse City. Learn more about the accommodations and the exciting program we have lined up for attendees on our Annual Meeting 2017 page, including sessions from your peers on local, regional, and state history, collection administration, digitization, and more.
Highlights include this year’s keynote speaker, Stef Staley, Executive Director of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum, who will speak on the secret aircraft carriers stationed on Lake Michigan during World War II. We also have a valuable pre-conference workshop lined up for June 14, as Stacy Nowicki, Library Director at the Kalamazoo College Library, teaches “Effective Grant Writing.”
Please note that this year our reception will take place on Wednesday, June 14, at the Top of the Park ballroom, with breathtaking views of downtown Traverse City and Grand Traverse Bay.
Tours on Thursday, June 15, include a guided walking tour of downtown Traverse City and a tour of the Music House Museum, and there is also a post-conference tour, June 16, of Old Mission Peninsula wineries.
Missed the session submission deadline, but still want to get involved? Proposal submissions for our third annual Poster Session are being accepted through Friday, April 14. Read more and submit a proposal via our Call for Posters.
Stay tuned for more information about our Silent Auction, which raises funds for our scholarship, grant, and award program, as well as our slate of candidates and voting issues for our election at our Annual Business Meeting during the conference.
MAA members may take advantage of our member-only Early Bird registration rate, which runs through April 19. Regular member and non-member registrations will be accepted by mail postmarked by May 10. After that, on-site registration is available. New this year, we are offering one-day registration in addition to our usual full registration. As always, we provide a special affordable rate for students.
