MAA’s Mission – Call for Comment

This year at the Michigan Archival Association Annual Business Meeting, MAA members will be asked to vote on the adoption of an organizational mission statement. The mission statement is intended to provide a concise description of where MAA currently stands and to guide our work going forward.

The MAA Board asks members to read and consider the following draft statement:

“Michigan Archival Association supports the community of organizations and individuals who care for the state’s materials of cultural heritage and the documentary record through communication and education, and seeks to foster a collaborative and inclusive professional network.”

Discussion prior to the vote is welcome. Any comments or questions may be shared by email with an MAA officer or board member (individual emails listed on the Board Officers and Members pages, or address our group email at You are also welcome to post publicly in the comments below. Voting takes place June 16 at the Annual Business Meeting.
