Help Flood Damaged Historical Collections in Houghton County!

As you may have heard, Houghton County has been ravaged by terrible flooding and Governor Snyder has declared a state of emergency.

Lindsay Hiltunen, the archivist for Michigan Tech, is asking that anyone interested in volunteering to help clean up local heritage sites contact her ASAP. Her contact information is as follows:

lehalkol at mtu.edu
(906) 487-3209 or (906) 487-2505 office and main MTU archives lines
(906) 281-0024 work cell
If you’re not in the area and want to still help, the Historical Society of Michigan has created a GoFundMe for the Houghton County Historical Society (https://www.gofundme.com/gjj99r-houghton-museum-flood-relief). The historical society is a volunteer-run organization and is in desperate need of help and donations to save their collections and research facilities. The funds will go to help them and other local history organizations in the area.

Thank you for your time.
