The Archiving and Preservation Division of Dance/USA has just opened the call for our summer fellowships. We are excited that once again, one of the four host organizations is located in Detroit, Michigan this year. We are thrilled to be able to extend this opportunity to aspiring library and archive professionals, and we are hoping you will share this call for applications with the Michigan Archival Association.
For a bit of background, we will be selecting four fellows currently enrolled in graduate-level Library and Information Sciences programs, or those in other relevant fields with archiving experience, to spend the summer working closely and intensively with a dance organization in need of archival services, as well as a professional archivist to serve as a mentor. Other benefits of the fellowship include attending Dance/USA convenings, attending the Society of American Archivists conference (or other SAA convenings), and a $10,000 stipend.
This year’s Fellowships will be located in Detroit, MI; Los Angeles, CA; Jersey City, NJ; and Denver, CO.
Though students are welcome to travel for the Fellowships, we want to make sure to reach emerging archivists within Michigan that may wish to stay close to home and work with the Detroit-based organization (Jennifer Harge/Harge Dance Stories). I would so appreciate if you would share this opportunity with your members in whatever way is appropriate. This link to our website has full information on the projects, requirements, and application materials.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you!
