MAC 2018 Call for Session Proposals is Open!

August 8, 2017

The call for session proposals for the 2018 Midwest Archives Conference Annual Meeting is open until Tuesday, August 22, 5pm Central Time. Please consider submitting a proposal! The Program Committee invites session proposals on all areas of archival practice and research and from allied fields. The Committee is especially interested in proposals that align with the 2018 theme, “Blurring Boundaries, Crossing Lines.”

The annual meeting will be held in Chicago, March 21-24, 2018. Chicago has historically served as a transition area between different types of boundaries: from rural, urban, and suburban landscapes, between land and lake, as a leader in the evolution of transportation, as a home to built forms that encompass traditional and modern architecture, and even from East to West. For MAC 2018 we call archivists to a place whose official city motto itself, “city in a garden” (Urbs in Horto), invites an exploration of contradictions and contrasts.

More information can be found on the MAC website: http://www.midwestarchives.org/2018-sessionproposals
Also, be sure to check out the MAC Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/9031391258/) and the brainstorming spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/…/1Xe3ryZIrtYF7wZ01RV7AuOh6Rv…/edit…) for proposal ideas and collaborators.

A separate call for poster proposals will go out later this year.

Welcoming MAC to Michigan

January 27, 2012

MAC Annual Meeting, April 19-21, 2012 in Grand Rapids Michigan
Celebrating MAC’s 40th Anniversary

Dear Fellow MAA members,

The most memorable and enjoyable conferences are the ones where the local hosts really outdid themselves in showing their hospitality. The MAC Local Arrangements Committee is hoping for a sizeable Michigan showing at the meeting and 40th anniversary celebration, and hopes to see you all there. We are asking for your help to donate $5, $10, $25, or more to enable us to provide memorable hospitality to our fellow MAC members who will experience our unique area. As hosts to the MAC Annual Meeting, MAA members have a unique opportunity to show that we are proud of Grand Rapids and we are very glad to welcome attendees to our state.

An online donation is easy; simply follow this link:
https://midwestarc.memberclicks.net and donate as a MAC member or as a guest. If you wish to donate by mail, please contact Pam Berrington at pam.berrington@amway.com or 616-787-1422 for a donation form.

Thank you very much for your consideration. Let’s show the
MAC membership what great hosts WE are!
